Visit Yuma Announces New Board Members

Yuma, Arizona - Visit Yuma has announced the election of four members to its Board of Directors. With new programs and new, younger target audiences on the horizon, the board of directors of Visit Yuma recently elected new officers to lead the organization for the next fiscal year.

Louis Scott with Del Outdoor Advertising is currently serving as Chair. Other officers will be chosen when the Board of Directors convenes in July.

Four board seats come up for election by Visit Yuma members each year, with directors elected to three-year terms in June. Incumbents David Carvell who is Branch/Sales Manager at Ahern Rentals, and Deidre Meerchaum, who is the Facilities Manager at Gowan Company, won re-election.

Two new board members join the board this year. Reetika cares about Yuma and wishes to bring her knowledge, energy, and expertise to the Visit Yuma board. Nate Schug is President of Westmoor Electric. He’s been a member of the Caballeros de Yuma for 15 years. He served as El Presidente in 2010-2011. He’s served on many boards, foundations and committees, including Hospice of Yuma, Children and Family Services and El Toro Bowl Committee through AWC.

Other board members currently serving include Jeff Andrews of Westerner Products; Gladys Brown with Yuma International Airport, Bill Evans of Palms RV Resort, Wayne Gale with 1st Bank Yuma, Bruce Gwynn with Yuma Historical Society, Flora Llamas of NOVA Home Loans, Jacob Miller with City of Yuma, and Alex Steenstra with Northern Arizona University.

"I am delighted with the depth and breadth of these new directors, because of the wide range of skills and perspectives that they bring to the leadership of our organization," said Executive Director Linda Morgan. "Visit Yuma has so much going on: a new tour, Sunset on the Ranch, as well as a new monthly Yuma Cropping Up farmer's and artist's market starting this year, as well as more marketing emphasis on outdoors and adventures in the Yuma area. Also, this year we have a focus on "Celebrating the Arts," to showcase arts of all kinds, visual, performing, and more. With our board's direction and new energy, we are looking forward to a fantastic year."
