YUMA, ARIZONA - With his reindeer resting up for their epic Christmas Eve journey, Santa Claus will conduct a "chimney inspection" tour of Yuma next week via hot-air balloon.
Balloons Over Yuma will host the jolly old elf for a flight over the city at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, weather permitting. The launch site will be determined by the prevailing winds on the day of the flight, but Chief Pilot Colin Graham, Santa and the chase crew plan to meet at Target at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Besides offering assistance to Santa in planning his Christmas Eve deliveries to Yuma families, Balloons Over Yuma "leaves the ordinary on the ground" daily from October through May. Graham says Yuma is one of his favorite places to fly - and since he's piloted balloons over thirty states and five countries, including Inner Mongolia, China, Mexico and New Zealand, that's not just hot air!
"I'm always available to help Santa out," Graham said of the flight here. "As we get closer to Christmas, I want to make sure I'm on his 'nice' list."
This is a great video/photo opportunity that will make a great "anytime" feature for the holiday season. If you are interested in covering this, please contact Colin directly as I'll be out of town.
