McClendon to be YVB group sales manager

YUMA, Arizona -- Leslie McClendon will be the new group sales manager for Yuma Visitors Bureau, Executive Director Linda Jordan announced today.

"Leslie has a wealth of experience and connections to the travel industry, along with an abiding love of Yuma," Jordan said. "We're excited to welcome her to our team."

McClendon is a Yuma native, and has 30 years of experience in the travel industry.  She was with Tour West Travel for 20 years, most recently as manager of the Yuma office.  Previous to joining Tour West, she worked for 10 years for Small World Travel in Yuma.

A graduate of Yuma High School, she attended Arizona Western College.  Married to Bob McClendon, she is the mother of four children, and a lifelong resident of Yuma.  She currently serves on Yuma City Council.

"I love Yuma so much that I want everyone else to love it, too," McClendon said today. "When I heard about this opportunity, I knew this was what I was meant to do."

McClendon will assume her new job responsibilities, which include marketing Yuma to tour bus groups, convention and meeting planners and others in the travel industry, on Tuesday (Nov. 12).  She can be reached at Yuma Visitors Bureau at 928-376-0100, or email

In addition to representing Yuma at national trade shows like National Travel Association, American Bus Association, and Spotlight on the Southwest, Jordan said that McClendon will also be meeting with local business and professional leaders to develop leads for state or regional meetings that could be held in Yuma.
