Algodones offers guided tour, wine expo

Tourism officials will personally greet visitors Saturday morning

YUMA, ARIZONA – For folks who are interested in exploring south of the border, but are hesitant to visit on their own, tourism officials in Los Algodones are offering a personal welcome and guided tour of the friendly, visitor-oriented village this Saturday.

Adriana Grajeda from COTUCO Algodones will meet visitors right across the border from the U.S. Port of Entry at Andrade, Calif., at 10 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 15). She will await tour participants just past the Mexican customs office, next to the tourism office and public restrooms, and will carry a colorful globe as a means of identification.

The tour is free and open to all, no registration necessary – but please be prompt!

From the meeting point, Adriana will lead visitors to Main Street and the Plaza Centric, where there will be live music "right on the spot." Tour participants can enjoy will offer a authentic Mexican combination plate at El Paraiso restaurant for $5 per person.

Also Saturday, Algodones will host a "From the Land to Your Table" food and wine expo sponsored by Baja California grape producers at 11 a.m. VIP entrance to the expo costs $20 (optional for tour participants), and includes a variety of entertainment, souvenirs and "all you care for" samples of grape products, wine, honey and more.
