2018 Dorothy Young Electric Light Parade Winners

Award winners for the 2018 Dorothy Young Memorial Electric Light Parade have been announced by Visit Yuma, which organizes the popular annual event. The parade was held December 8 and themed “Celebrating Yuma Agriculture.”

The following entrants won top honors in the 16th annual presentation of the festive, well-attended holiday parade:
Mary Jane Allen Award for best Depiction of Parade Theme:   
Dole Fresh Vegetables
Best Float:   
Champion Church
Best Vehicle: 
Solo Riders
Best Animal:
Service Master All Phase Restoration
Best Walking/ Performing:
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Palms RV)
Dorothy Young Memorial Trophy Best Performing Band:
Gadsden Marching Band
All categories include a cash element and the Dorothy Young award is also commemorated with a traveling trophy. 
This year’s edition of the popular parade was the largest so far in terms of total parade participants and very well attended.  The Yuma Police Department has unofficially estimated that this year’s crowd was the largest to date. Annual attendance in recent years for the event has been approximated at 40,000.
Visit Yuma thanks parade sponsors APS, Southwest Gas, Lockheed Martin, Yuma International Airport, Liberty Motorsports and Westerner Products as well as the City of Yuma for its partnership and support of the event.
