Event to move to University of Arizona Yuma Ag Center
YUMA, ARIZONA - On May 3rd, 1914, Erwin 'Cannon Ball' Baker hopped on a 7 hp Indian motorcycle in San Diego and, with a bet that he couldn't cross the nation in 20 days, dazzled everyone when he reached New York City in just 11-1/2 days -- at a time when there were few paved or improved roads. A New York journalist impressed by his adventure tagged Baker with the nickname of "Cannon Ball," which stuck with him the rest of his life.
