This one night event celebrates and honors members of Yuma’s dynamic arts community. The event is presented by the City of Yuma’s Division of Arts and Culture and takes place on October 11, 2019 at the Yuma Art Center. The awards ceremony in the Historic Yuma Theatre is free to attend and is followed by a ticketed celebration and fundraiser for the Yuma Art Center in the galleries. The 2019 theme is “Arabian Nights.” Guests are encourage to dress in black tie or themed attire.

Nominees are generated by the public and the City of Yuma’s Parks, Arts, and Recreation Commission selects the award recipients. City of Yuma Parks and Recreation employees and previous award recipients are not eligible for nomination. Nomination forms can be found at YumaArtCenter.com. Incomplete nominations will not be accepted. All nominations must be received in full by September 6, 2019 at 5:00 pm.

Tribute of the Muses Award Nominations
The Tribute of the Muses Award is presented to a distinguished and outstanding member of Yuma’s arts community who has shown exemplary devotion and excellence in the arts. Nominees may reflect acknowledged excellence in a chosen arts field, arts advocacy, philanthropy and/or arts education. Tribute of the Muses Award nominees should have a minimum of 5 years of arts recognition in Yuma.

Helios Award Nominations
The Helios Award is presented to an individual who is a recognized, up and coming voice within the Yuma arts community. Nominees may reflect acknowledged excellence in a chosen arts field, arts advocacy, philanthropy and/or arts education.

Art Award Commission
The Yuma Art Center seeks to commission a local artist to design and fabricate an award that will be presented to the Tribute of the Muses Award recipient. Visit YumaArtCenter.com for full prospectus. Budget is $350, deadline for submissions is September 5, 2019.

Join in for an evening of fun and fitness as the City of Yuma kicks off its series of runs at the Zombie Run.  Enjoy music, food, drinks and Best Zombie Costume Contest after you have completed the course.  Runners will still earn 5 bonus points and walkers will earn a star for participating in this non-timed event. Start and finish at Desert Sun Stadium.  Pre-registration cost $17 (deadline is Thursday, October 10 by 1 p.m. ). On-site fee is $26. On-site registration and bib pick-up is between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Register in person at City of Yuma Parks & Recreation.

All of the funds raised stay in the Yuma area.
