Yuma's Historic Downtown Named Best in Arizona
Official Best of Arizona 2017 to air Saturday, spotlights world's sunniest city
YUMA, ARIZ. — This Saturday, Historic Downtown Yuma will be featured in the half-hour, televised travel show Official Best of Arizona 2017.
Earlier this year, researchers at Official Best Of compiled a collection of the very best attractions and destinations in each state across the country. Through this process, Downtown Yuma was selected as Official Best Historic Main Street Community in Arizona for 2017.
"This is well-deserved recognition for the businesses of Downtown Yuma, and it's an acknowledgement all Yumans can be proud of," said Linda Morgan, Executive Director of Yuma Visitors Bureau. "There are many great communities like ours throughout Arizona, many which could have just as easily been recognized. For Yuma to get the nod is an honor."
In March, Yuma Visitors Bureau sponsored a visit by an Official Best Of videographer to capture footage of Yuma's Main Street scene. Since, the segment has been produced and accurately depicts Downtown's eclectic, traveler-friendly atmosphere.
"Locals are likely to see familiar places and faces in the video," said Morgan. "But, for those who have not yet ventured into Yuma, those viewers will find many reasons why their next stop in Yuma should be more than just a gas and go."
Official Best of Arizona 2017 airs Saturday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m. on KOLD Tucson, and 4:00 p.m. on KPHO Phoenix. Those outside the broadcast regions may find the Yuma segment at OfficialBestOf.com immediately following the TV airings, and on Yuma Visitors Bureau's Facebook and Twitter pages.
