Toast the town with Savor Yuma

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DEC. 29, 2015

Toast the town with 'Savor Yuma'
2016 culinary tour lineup launches Jan. 5

YUMA, ARIZONA - If your New Year's resolutions include eating more fresh, local fare, you can kickstart that effort with a "Savor Yuma" tour sponsored by Yuma Visitors Bureau.

Savor YumaDesigned to showcase Yuma's authentic border fare and "fresh from the field" produce, these tours treat diners to a "mystery culinary quest" aboard a motorcoach with a designated driver.

You'll taste Yuma flavors in a "progressive dinner" format with stops at three restaurants, with tasty appetizers offered at the first, fresh soup or salad at the second, and a main course at the third. Each diner may enjoy two speciality "adult" drinks along the way, and a sweet treat wraps things up as the party returns to its starting point.

The first Savor Yuma tour of 2016 is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 5), and departs from the Yuma Heritage Center (old City Hall) at 180 W. 1st St.

Among the venues featured on 2016 Savor Yuma tours are A&R Grill, Garden Cafe, Market Grill Steak & Seafood, Main Street Cafe, The Press, The Patio at The Hills, River City Grill, Tina's Cocina and Yuma Landing.

This is the fourth year YVB has offered its traveling dinners, Executive Director Linda Morgan explained. "It's a fun way to meet new people while getting a chance to sample the specialties at some great local restaurants. Some of our Savor Yuma 'regulars' now plan their visits around the tour schedule, which is a pretty good testimonial."

Savor Yuma tours are scheduled for Jan. 5 and 19, Feb. 9 and 16. March 3 and 22 and April 7. The cost of $55 per person includes transportation, dinner and two "adult beverages." Tickets are on sale now at YVB's Visitor Information Center at the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park, 201 N. 4th Avenue, call 800-293-0071 or 928-783-0071 for more information. The VIC is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week through May. Savor Yuma and Field to Feast tickets also can be purchased online at VisitYuma.com.

In January and February, Tuesday evening dinner tours also coordinate with Wednesday morning Field to Feast agriculture tours, for a double helping of fresh Yuma bounty. See more info at VisitYuma.com.
