Study to Reveal Who is Traveling to Yuma and Why
Results to be shared at Yuma Visitors Bureau Annual Meeting
Yuma, Ariz. — On Thursday, June 23, 2016, the results of a year-long visitor intercept study, conducted with the support of Yuma area hoteliers, will be presented by the University of Arizona at a breakfast meeting hosted by Yuma Visitors Bureau (YVB).
The study, funded by Arizona Office of Tourism and YVB, asked Yuma area hotel and motel guests to complete a survey with information on the reasons for their visit, where they reside, and the estimated amount of time and money they plan to spend in Yuma. Other questions on the survey are expected to provide details on traveler demographics.
"This study has many purposes," said Linda Morgan, Executive Director of YVB. "For Yuma's hospitality industry, the resulting data provides useful insight into who is coming to Yuma, why they are here, and what they are looking to do while they are here. For YVB, the responses are instrumental in determining marketing strategies as we look for ways to attract more travelers to Yuma."
The last time a similar study was performed in Yuma was in 2011.
Announcing the findings will be Economic Impact Analyst Ashley Kerna from the University of Arizona. Arizona Office of Tourism Executive Director Debbie Johnson will also be present to speak on the impacts of tourism from a statewide perspective.
Tickets to YVB's Annual Breakfast Meeting on Thursday, June 23, are available to the public. The meeting, being held at The Palms RV Resort, begins at 7 a.m. and will conclude at 8:30 a.m. with YVB's presentation of the Expression of Gratitude in Recognition of Efforts for Tourism (EGRET) Award. A copy of YVB's Fiscal Year 2016 Annual Report will also be made available to all attendees.
Cost to attend is $25 per person for YVB members, $30 per person for non-YVB members. Purchase tickets online at VisitYuma.com/annualmeeting.html or by phone at 928-376-0100.
