YUMA, ARIZONA – To celebrate its 14th year under the ownership of Pat and Donna George and family, the Peanut Patch will host a special open house celebration on Saturday, Nov. 19.
From 10 a.m. until the store’s normal 5 p.m. closing, folks can stop by for special fun activities and free samples of many of the homemade treats that have made the Peanut Patch a favorite.
“We get visitors from all over the world who find their way to our place, but lots of Yumans don’t have any idea we’re here, ” George said. “That’s one of the reasons we wanted to mark an anniversary with a special party, and offer something for all ages to try.”
Located at 4322 E. County 13th Street (2 miles south of 32nd Street or old Highway 80, between Avenue 4E and Avenue 4-1/2E), the Peanut Patch dates back to post-World War II homesteaders who grew peanuts on the Yuma mesa.
Today, it offers a wide variety of homemade fudge, nuts, dried fruits and other treats, along with free tours for groups by advance reservation. Open Monday-Saturday from October through April except major holidays, the Peanut Patch is also a great place to shop for yummy holiday gifts for friends and family near and far. For more information about the store anniversary or its everyday offerings, call 928-726-6292.
The store also will host a return visit from the Jelly Belly traveling bus from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 10, George noted.
“We can’t wait to have them back again,” George said. “All the kids and their parents had such a good time tasting both the delicious and weird flavors, it was a highlight for everyone.”
