From appetizers to artillery, Yuma tours targeted for takeoff

Savor Yuma sales begin Monday, YPG tours launch Oct. 31

YUMA, Ariz. - Tickets for a variety of tours offered by Yuma Visitors Bureau go on sale this month - and organizers expect that many will "blow up" quickly. First off the firing line are tickets for the Savor Yuma progressive dinner tours, which go on sale Monday (Oct. 17), with the first dining adventure hitting the road Nov. 10

The next round of sales begins Oct. 31and includes what's likely to be the hottest sellers of the season, the popularBehind the Big Guns and YPG at Ease tours, both of which offer an insider's look at Yuma Proving Ground.

First launched in 2014. the Behind the Big Guns tours have sold out quickly each year. The YPG at Ease version requires fewer trips on and off the bus for those with more limited mobility,

Both include motor coach transportation and lunch at YPG's Cactus Cafe, as well as a tour of the YPG Heritage Center.

"Because YPG's military mission obviously outranks us, we're limited in the number of tours we can offer," said Linda Morgan, YVB's executive director. "If this is on your bucket list, please plan to get your tickets on day one."

She also noted that because YPG is an active military installation, security regulations require the following information for each ticket holder:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Gender
  • Ethnicity
  • Date of birth
  • Citizenship
  • ID type (driver license/passport)
  • ID number and place (state/country) of issue
  • Last 4 of SSN for US residents

YPG requires that tickets reflect accurate information for each tour participant and that everyone has valid government-issued photo identification with them on the day of the tour. The names on reserved tickets must match the legal name listed on the IDs provided. Because participants are prescreened, ticket sales for YPG tours are final, non-transferable and non-refundable.

Last but not least, the final wave of YVB tour sales begins Nov. 7, with tickets for Field to Feast agriculture tours, Date Night dinners and two new"Discovery" history and culture tours going on sale.

More detailed info and available dates for all tours can be found atVisitYuma.com Tickets can be purchased online with a credit card or in person at the Visitor Information Center, 201 N. 4th Ave., 928-783-0071.
