Golfing

With sunshine to spare and beautiful scenery in all directions, golf in Yuma is a natural. Over the years, our area has earned high marks from experts like Golf Digest magazine, in part because the ratio of courses to population keeps the sport so affordable.

More About Golfing in Yuma

With 16 diverse area courses offering a total of 234 holes, every golfer can find the right match, whether seeking a challenge or just some low-key recreation.

For championship-caliber layouts, check out Desert Hills Municipal Golf Course, rated one of Arizona's top municipal courses; the Mesa del Sol Public Golf Club course, designed by Arnold Palmer; the Las Barrancas course wending through the desert at the base of the Gila Mountains; or the majestic, tree-lined fairways of the Yuma Golf & Country Club (guest privileges for country club members).

In Somerton, the Cocopah Indian Tribe has renovated Dove Valley as the Cocopah Rio Colorado Golf Course. The tribe also operates a course at the Cocopah Bend RV & Golf Resort.

In Wellton, the Glen Curtis Company is developing a desert golf resort that will eventually boast 36 holes of golf - 18 are now open - along with course-side custom homes, condos and a hotel - all at a fraction of the cost of developments in Palm Springs or urban Arizona.

When it comes to golf, Yuma is green - and growing!
