Make it a Star-Spangled Weekend in Yuma
Published on Jul 1, 2016

Celebrate the nation's 240th birthday with these All-American festivities, happening in Yuma!

So, you're in Yuma this 4th of July weekend enjoying some outdoor recreation at the river or nearby lakes, visiting family and friends, or just passing through southern Arizona — great! Now, how to celebrate the summer holiday? YVB is lighting the fuse on these sizzling, outdoor events for all ages.

Get an early start to 4th of July fun with the Early Independence Day Celebration at Paradise Casino!  Admission is FREE and cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and sodas will be handed out as 80s band Slaughter cranks out some tunes on the entertainment stage. Fireworks launch at 9:30. For more information, contact Paradise Casino at 888-777-4946.

Be in attendance for the City of Yuma's newest celebration — in just its second year the All American BBQ & Fireworks Spectacular brings family-friendly patriotic partying to Desert Sun Stadium. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Independence Day with plenty of water features to help you and the family stay cool. Admission is just $1 per person (free for kiddos under 3) with food and drink being sold separately. The night is capped off in true 4th of July form with a 25-minute fireworks show, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Few things are as American as demolition derbies and, in the spirit of the nation's anniversary, Cocopah Speedway will turn its oval infield into a wasteland of carnage on the 4th. Admission is just $5 for all ages with the smashing, crashing action beginning at 7 p.m. For more information, visit CocopahSpeedway.com.
